Play this for two minutes (not 99 as the music says), it will exercise your fretting hand and your picking hand much. (Click Image for a larger Rendering).

Exercise Five

After you try this, please post a comment on what you think. Was it hard? Was it easy? Does your hand hurt too much to leave a comment?

  1. At 60bpm…? I think I can do that :-) Oh, what was the question? Does it hurt? No, not really. Exercises like this can be real finger-twisters though, which is probably what makes them worthwhile.

Cheeky question, but what software did you use to create the notation? Looks good/useful for this whole blogging thing!

  2. Hey Kenski,

I’m glad you tried it but this was more for a beginner or semi-beginner. I’d expect that anyone whose played for a year or more wouldn’t “feel” this.

The software I used… Well, that is all linked from this site under “Tools.” The software I specificity used was TuxGuitar to create the music and Paint.NET to setup and add the text to the image. I also took the original screen capture with the screen Snippet tool that ships with Vista.

  3. Ah, you’ve mentioned TuxGuitar before, but I think it was when I was swamped at work so I never got around to trying it. I’ll give it a go. Many thanks!
